All workshops are offered to the entire campus community - faculty, staff, and students - and are free of charge. The location of the workshop is listed with the date and time of each session offered. Please be on time! Due to the hands-on nature of the workshops, persons who
arrive over ten minutes late may not be admitted.
ITS reserves the right to cancel a workshop or offer alternative methods of education if there is insufficient enrollment for any session offered. When possible, 24 hour notice will be given should the workshop be cancelled.

Blackboard Basics
This training offers instructors an introduction to using Blackboard, Ithaca College's central course management system. Using a practice course for hands-on learning, you will acquire the fundamental skills needed to build and manage your course in Blackboard, such as:
activating your course and publishing your syllabus
navigating within the Build, Teach, and Student views
adding, using, and removing course management tools,
creating, uploading, and organizing course content
using communication tools (announcements, discussion boards)
Financials Services offers this session which will cover the Annual Budget Process for users. Each year, deans and vice presidents assign individuals to the role of Reviewer, Submitter, and Approver for this process. ALL SUBMITTERS ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND a Budget Process Training session before access to the Budget Process in Parnassus can be granted. Reviewers and Approvers are encouraged to attend a session.

Come to this workshop and learn how to build your own personal Web site without having to worry about specialized language and code that can be so difficult to understand. Your Web site can include cool features such as photo galleries and blogs. But moreover, ePortfolios can be a great way for you to display your professional and academic integrity to potential employers and others.
Pre-requisite: Introduction to FileMaker Pro (or equivalent experience). This workshop will show you how to use advanced features in FileMaker Pro, such as building scripts and relational database structures. Scripts allow you to automate common processes, such as performing calculations and running reports. Designing relational databases ensures data integrity and reduces repetitive data entry through table linking and matching fields.
This workshop will show you the basics of creating databases with FileMaker Pro. Topics covered will include: components of a database; importing, exporting, and sorting data; using the Browse, Find, Layout, and Preview modes; defining fields and tables; and creating forms and reports in Layout mode.
This session will cover procedures and guidelines established for departments and individuals accepting payments to the College. Individuals with responsibility for accepting cash/checks or depositing cash/checks through Cashiering Services are REQUIRED to attend an annual training session.
Introduction to Podcasting and iTunes U
Podcasting=on-demand, mobile, episodic audio and video content. Ithaca College on iTunes U is a free way to distribute podcasts open to all faculty and official IC organizations. This session will provide an overview of podcasting and iTunes U, which will include examples of different types of podcasts, creative uses for podcasts in higher education, and tools used to create podcasts. Participants will see a demonstration of how easy it is to get an iTunes U site and upload media to it. Participants will have opportunities to explore iTunes U hands-on.
Oracle Calendar: Introduction
This workshop covers viewing agendas other's agendas; creating meetings with individuals, groups, or resources; and managing tasks. Find out how to use access rights to decide what can be seen in your calendar. Learn how to manage calendar groups to make scheduling easier and faster. Before attending this workshop, please make sure that you have received an email confirming creation your Oracle Calendar account. This e-mail will contain your username and password which will be required at the workshop.
This session is presented by Financial Services staff and covers a specific topic geared toward a new user or as an in-depth review for current users. Topics selected for the sessions are scheduled as listed below. Access to the specific responsibility in Parnassus is required.
This session is offered by Financial Services staff and will cover a more in-depth review of a designated topic relating to the financial responsibilities in Parnassus. Topics selected for the session offers attendees an opportunity to review detailed information including any shortcuts. Attendees may bring in related sample materials with questions or ask questions relating to the specific topic. This is a great opportunity for a group of end-users within a department to sign up and attend together. Access to the responsibility in Parnassus is required for this review session.

Web Profile Manager: Department Web Sites
Come to this workshop to learn how to edit and manage your department's profile with ease. The workshop covers the basic features of WPM including editing an intro page and adding images, documents, and multiple sections to your page. Also, learn the newer features such as news, blogs, and dates lists. Additionally, since Department Profiles are unique, you can learn how to manage your faculty listings, add forms, work with internship databases, and use features specific to academic and administrative profiles.
Web Profile Manager: Faculty Web Sites
In this workshop, faculty members can learn -- in just one hour -- how to use the Web Profile Manager (WPM) to publish their official Web sites at Ithaca College. Faculty profiles typically include a photo, descriptions of teaching and research interests, a curriculum vitae, photo galleries, and lists of published works. Easy to build and update, faculty web profiles also offer tools that encourage student engagement and facilitate outreach, such as news and blogs.
