CRETV researchers have been conducting studies of children's comprehension of television content for the past decade, particularly regarding moral lessons in TV programs and misleading aspects of TV commercials. Using clinical interviews and Piagetian-type tasks, interviewers have tested comprehension in children as young as three years of age. CRETV has also developed a set of reliable procedures for testing effectiveness of media literacy techniques and materials aimed at parents and children, and is available on a contract basis to evaluate the effectiveness of materials developed by others.
