How do I keep track of my student organization’s finances?
It is important that your organization’s treasurer keep track of the transactions that are made in your account. By communicating effectively as organization members, you will be able to help your treasurer maintain an accurate record of your transactions. There is no required format for maintaining your records, but it may be helpful to download a sample Microsoft Excel spreadsheet to use as a guide. This simple sheet will help your organization record information in a readable format .
If your records are missing transactions, please contact the Programs & Activities Assistant to discuss what account activity has taken place. It is not the Programs & Activities Assistant’s responsibility to maintain a spreadsheet for your organization: Your organization’s TREASURER must keep accurate records. Please bring a copy of your records each time you meet with the Programs & Activities Assistant to facilitate dialogue and ensure the accuracy of the figures discussed.
How does my organization get an Ithaca College account?
Student organizations are eligible to have an Ithaca College account when all requirements for registration have been completed. Accounts are only activated upon the request of the student organization. If your organization does not yet have an Ithaca College account, please complete the account request form.
What sources of funds are available to my student organization?
First and foremost, it is essential that your organization work to raise funds on its own.
- Any funds your organization raises during the academic year but does not spend during the same academic year will roll over for use in the next academic year. If your organization does not use these remaining funds in the next academic year, they will not be available for use in subsequent years. If you have questions, please contact the Programs & Activities Assistant.
- The Student Government Association receives funds from Ithaca College to distribute to registered student organizations with an Ithaca College account. If you would like to request an SGA-allocation or additional funding from SGA, please visit the SGA website for more information.
