Alternative Spring Break

What is ASB?
Alternative Spring Break is a volunteer opportunity co-sponsored by Peer Volunteer Corps and The Center for Student Leadership & Involvement unlike any other. Ithaca College students, faculty, and staff will travel around the country during their spring break in March to demonstrate their commitment to service. This program has expanded dramatically in the last four years because the experience is so rewarding that people keep coming back, with a brand new group of volunteers joining those who return every year!
Where can I go?
We have planned a variety of sites for this year. An explanation of those is on the next page. On your application, you get to rank your choices. All attempts will be made to give you your top choice. Click here for more information on the sites.
What is the cost?
A $75 deposit is required for your application to be processed. Information about the deposit can be found on the last page of the application. Later, you will be asked to pay an additional $200. We recognize that this is a lot of money, but keep in mind that it pays for your travel, housing, food, and site fees for a week.
Is it worth it?
People often point to ASB as one of the most rewarding experiences of their college careers, if not their lives. Read a few of the quotes below to see what recent ASB alumni have to say about their experience.
“I come from a small town and ASB made me realize there is a big world out there. Service in another part of the country opened my eyes to so much. I enjoyed every experience I had on ASB”

“ASB is worth every moment. I was hesitant at first to spend my break doing service, but it was the best decision I've made in my life. I had a great time and made amazing friends.”
