Mission Statement

It shall be the purpose of this organization to promote the exchange of multicultural music between the Ithaca College Community and surrounding Ithaca Community. By advocating for the sharing of ideas, resources, talents, and abilities from a wide variety of cultures and ethnic backgrounds, a greater awareness and knowledge of multiculturalism is sought.

Background Information

Last year the Culture Link multicultural festival brought over 50 Ithaca College students, faculty, and non-Ithaca College guest artists to the Community School of Music and the Arts (CSMA) as a part of a two-day celebration of multicultural experiences and performances. There were more than 80 performers and over 400 audience members in attendance throughout the festival. Local media, including the Ithacan and the Ithaca Journal covered the event. Explore our archives page to learn more about last year's event. For more details about each performer or performing group, click here.

This year, our club plans to put on another festival celebration, with the help of SGA funding, to give the students a place off-campus to spread their talents and love of multiculturalism. It was amazing to see the audience, comprised of mostly community members, enjoy the studentís performances. Best of all, it was produced by volunteers and admission was free, allowing any community member, regardless of financial status, to attend our event.

How does Culture Link benefit the student body?

Our club will directly benefit the student body in the following ways:

  • Provide a greater awareness of our diversity through experiencing the music of many cultures.
  • Bring community performers and presenters to the student body to allow for the sharing of ideas between the Ithaca College student body and the Ithaca Community.
  • Create a venue, time, and place for the sharing and learning of new ideas.
