Hi, I'm taking the Ithaca Seminar and I am a music major. Math has
always been my favorite subject in
school, basically because I have little trouble understanding it. In
everyday life I've noticed connections to
math, even within music, so Im really excited to take this class.
Hello everyone and welcome to a fresh fall semester. I am in particular
very excited about this upcoming
semester. I have some fantastic classes lined up, great friends to hang
out with, and another year of
opportunities ahead.
These courses with Dani are one of my main focuses for this fall
semester. I believe that as a group we
have great potential to set new standards for student excellence at
Ithaca College. What I mean is that we
have a choice to either simply show up, listen and then leave ultimately
the same individual; or we can
travel to our destination, engage in conscious discussion/interaction,
create an organic environment, and
then depart smarter and stronger as students and members of society.
Well, I look forward to meeting everyone. Have a safe rest of your
summer, enjoy the time off and I will
see you all soon.
PS. I write poetry as a side hobby so if anyone is interested I am
always open to hanging out and kicking
around some ideas.

I am taking the Ithaca Seminar.
I am from Southern California. I am an Art History major, so I am,
obviously, very interested in many forms
of art. To be perfectly honest...I hate math! Although I have been able
to get by in my past math classes, I
have always struggled in math. However, I am very interested in the basis
of this Seminar and although I
despise math, I promise to be open to the class.
I am also interested in volleyball and will be playing on the team at
Ithaca.
I am very excited to start school at Ithaca so I can meet new people and
experience a completely new way
of life. I only hope I survive the first winter.

Hi, everyone. I'm going to be taking the Ithaca Seminar this fall as a
freshman. Although I ultimately plan to major in psychology (and maybe a
minor in piano performance), I have always loved math. I believe it holds
a lot of the keys to understanding the universe. Another thing I love
just as much is an atmosphere in which people can learn without fear of
judgement and have some honest interactions with one another. Since it
seems like Dani is just as interested in both, and I hope you are as well
(or at least in the second part), I'm really looking forward to this
class.

My name is Tatiana Herold, I graduated a year early so I have only just
turned 17. I'm from Hamilton, NY, home of Colgate University, and only
about 2 hours away. I am taking the Ithaca Seminar and I'm really excited
about it. I love math, anything and everything about it.

I'm a Psychology major from Matthews, NC, although I'm originally from
Middletown, CT. I'm taking Math as Art of the Soul because it implies an
alternative perspective on things and I like that sort of thing. While I
wouldn't call myself the artsy type, I do plan to give this class my full
effort and commitment. Currently I find myself very solitary and
independent, but in the coming years at IC, I hope to remedy that to some
degree and socialize a little more.

Hi,I am taking the Ithaca Seminar Math as Art of the Soul.
I just moved back to Philadelphia at the beginning of August, before that
I lived in Paris, France for 4 years. I plan on majoring in Art. I am not
great at math, but plan on having a great time.

Hey! I'm Bekah, a freshman taking the freshmen seminar. (OH! what a
shock!) I definitely signed up for this class because it seemed like the
least mathematical math that i could find. (I'm not a real big fan of
math; my view of it has been tainted by proofs and terms and logs and all
that jazz) But now that i've actually met dani, i am much more excited
for this class! it seems like a wonderful environment for my creativity
to grow and my self to be changed.
A little bit about me? hmm, i shall talk about me in short concise
sentences. I'm random. I love dancing when i'm alone and hanging out.
Eloquence is not my strong point. Laughing is my favourite thing. I'm
from a class of 150. I have a peace tattoo on my foot. I'm a pirate. Hugs
are fun. Bruises are not. Red is the best colour. I try to be nice to
everyone. I want to be famous. I think i look like pippy longstockinG. I
like my roof. climbing is a passion. I'm in love with peace. If i could,
i'd marry it. smiles are contagious. rain is wonderful. I'm selfish. i
wish i could fly. i love heights. listening is a strong point. i'm a
fool. I love skanking and ska. sometimes i get sick to my stomach at the
way people act. i try to share. i like philosophical discussions. its
hard not to be obnoxious. im not perfect. when people smile it lights up
my day.
I write poetry and short stories.

Response by Jahna
Hello, my name is Jahna and I am taking the Math as An Art of The Soul
Ithaca seminar this fall. I am an
exploratory major, which is a fitting name for me because I really am
doing just that....exploring. I bounce
around with so many different interests and passions that I find it
almost impossible for me to settle on
one thing as a major which is both exciting and a little frustrating at
the same time. It is exciting because I
still feel like there are endless possibilities for what my life could
turn out to be about, and it is frustrating
because it would be nice to be a bit more consistant and have an idea of
where im going. Im really
looking forward to this class because it seems to be very unique and
seems to require an open mind and
an open heart, which I intend to have here at ithaca.

Hello everyone. My name is Colleen Muldowney and I am taking the Ithaca
Seminar this semester. I am very happy to be attending Ithaca College
this fall as Ithaca is the town i have grown up in. I am from Newfield
which is only 10 minutes away from Ithaca, depending on which way you
enter it and how fast you drive. :) The reason i chose this seminar, and
i had my fingers crossed to get it, was because i love math, computers
and art. I think that putting these three subjects together along with
the topics of life and the soul will be very interesting and rewarding
for me as i am here to learn a different way of thinking. I am excited to
get to know everyone and generally have a good time in this seminar. I
wish everyone luck on their first year at Ithaca. It is a beautiful place
and i know you will like it!
