This summer I was driving to work in a thunder storm and I was struck by lightening. This is definetly the strangest thing that has ever happened to me. I can only explain it as seeing everything in negative for a few seconds, while at the same time hearing the loudest noise imaginable. The noise was so loud, it did not sound like a noise. My car stalled out, so I pulled over to the side of the road. At this point I had no idea what had just happened. Was I on the X-Files? Anyway, the man in the car behind me stopped as well. He came running over to my car all upset and screeming that I had just been hit by lightning and that he had seen it.
Slowly I realized what had happened. I don't think I was exposed to too much current (I'm not dead...). I must have been dazed because all I could think to do was roll up my window to shut him out. I think he expected me to be really hurt. Eventually, I got out and talked to him. When I convinced him I was O.K., and my car started up alright I went on my way.
I studdered really bad for two days or so, but that is the only physical side effect of the incident I had. I've thought about it a lot, though... I could very easily have been killed. That really scared me.
This really doesn't have much to do with the story, but I'm taking the class "Death and Immortality" this semester to help me deal with the experience. It's a good class. I highly recommend it for anyone who is dealing with death issues in their lives. Want to go back to Sharing stories
