Emily Haff

Major: Communication Management and Design

Minor: Integrated Marketing Communications

Job Title: Lead Event and Marketing Coordinator

Skills you’ve learned while working at CCES: When I first started working for CCES I had this crazy dream that I wanted to become an event planner. However, never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined the journey I was about to embark on when I joined the team. Over the years this office has allowed me to develop too many skills to list in one short response, so I’ll have to pick a few of my favorites. I have learned all of the skills I need to manage, market, and plan events. I have learned that being a team leader means being a positive role model, support system, and mentor for all of the staff in our office. I have learned that managing a team of 16 students is not an easy task when I’m trying to manage everything else in my hectic student life. I have developed numerous professional skills, become an extremely organized individual, and have accepted the fact that I love event planning enough not to sleep. Basically, after four years of working for CCES I can safely say that my dream of “being an event planner” is now a reality and I cannot thank everyone in the CCES office enough for taking me under their wing as sparkly pink freshman. Their guidance and support has created the confident event professional that I am today.

Best part about working for CCES: I love the chances I get to share my knowledge and skills with my co-workers. Having the opportunity to train new hires that are as passionate about the event world as I am is the most rewarding and exciting experience I have ever had! Being surrounded by so many wonderful people that are eager to learn puts a genuine smile on my face and makes me truly happy :)

One crazy fact about you: I love sports and I’m actually a pretty solid field hockey defenseman. The IAC Section IV Coaches don’t refer to me by name, because they decided “the wall” was a better fit for me. I was named MVP of our high school team and that will forever be one of my proudest accomplishments. Field hockey: the one thing I wish I still had time to do here at IC.

Joseph Hollister

Major: Integrated Marketing Communications

Job Title: Event and Marketing Coordinator

Skills you’ve learned while working at CCES: Before working with CCES I had very little event planning experience. Now I can confidently say that I specialize in event planning. During my time with CCES, I've developed both my verbal and written communication with clients and gained an insight into the professional world that is higher education event planning. I am very lucky to have been given the opportunity to create a portfolio of event summaries and most importantly gained a group of friends who I consider my second family.

Best part about working for CCES: The people I work with

One crazy fact about you: I’m a native Ithacan

Kari Abramson

Major: Television-Radio, concentration in Media Production

Minor: Integrated Marketing Communications

Job Title: Production Technician

Skills you’ve learned while working at CCES: I've broadened my communication skills from speaking with clients, and have gained confidence in my understanding of sound and lighting.

Best part about working for CCES: The people are definitely the best, with the schedule flexibility being a close second. It never feels like I'm "going to work," it feels like I'm about to spend time with good friends, and being able to determine my own schedule every week allows me complete control over how I manage my time between classes, work, and extracurriculars.

One crazy fact about you: When I was in Paris, I ran down all 1600+ steps of the Eiffel Tower when the elevator closed for the night and left me stranded at the top!

January 2014

Skills you’ve learned while working at CC&ES: From how to work with a client, to running a full concert sound and lighting rig, I have learned more than I could have ever imagined possible working for CCES.

Best part about working for CC&ES: The best things about working for CCES are the incredible fellow staff members I work alongside of every day and the fact that I have found the career path I want to pursue in event production design and have had the opportunity to hone my skills in that arena through my work with CCES.

One crazy fact about you: I'm red green colorblind.

Samantha Chua

Major: Communications Management and Design

Minor: Business Administration

Job Title: Lead Event and Marketing Coordinator

Skills you’ve learned while working at CC&ES: There are so many skills I have learned over the course of my time working at CC&ES, but the ones that stands out the most is how to manage a team of 16 other students as well as manage my time to the best of my ability juggling school work as well as planning and working events. My professional skills have improved tremendously over the past 4 years that I have been working for CC&ES. This position has definitely shaped me into the type of worker that I want to become in the real world.

Best part about working for CC&ES: Working alongside with the talented students that work for CC&ES.  It has been so fun to see my peers excel in their areas of expertise.

One crazy fact about you: I love the stress that comes with planning events because it all becomes worth it at the end when an event is well planned and executed and clients are happy with your service.
