New blades that were fashioned for all of the cooling tower fans have arrived and the Office of Facilities is in the process of installing them. The new blades were specially designed to slice through the air, rather than chop. The slicing motion will help to reduce the amount of noise being emitted from the fans.
The variable frequency drives that were installed last week on the fan motors have all been programmed, and are now running the motors at a slower speed to further reduce the noise level.
