Application deadline: Friday, 24 September, 2008.
Welcome to the Advanced Web Development (COMP 20500) application page! This page provides information describing how to have a web site designed and developed by students in the computer science course COMP 20500. In order to gain experience in real-life web development, students in this course must develop a web site for some organization for free.
There are usually more applications than students, so there can be no guarantee that your project will be chosen. This page presents some information about the course and about what you can expect if your project is chosen for development. If you have any questions, please address them to John Barr, the course instructor.
The advanced web development course. This course is designed as a follow-on course for the introductory web development course, COMP 10500. Students are not computer science majors, rather they are students with experience in building web pages who are looking to learn how to make web pages interactive and to build web pages and sites that receive information from users. Students must complete many requirements in this course (see the class web page for details), but the most extensive requirement is to develop a web site for some organization. This development will be done in teams of 2 or 3 students. The site will be graded on its visual appeal, its degree of interactivity, and its robustness.
How to apply.
Simply fill out the application below and submit it. Students will evaluate the applications and each student team will pick a project to develop. You will be notified no later than October 1 if your project is chosen.
Who is eligible. Any organization officially associated with Ithaca College is eligible. If you are a local not-for-profit organization and are willing to come to the Ithaca College campus once a week to meet with a student team, you may also apply.
Caveats. See this page for restrictions and (lack of) guarantees.
