• Il y a makes a general statement: "There is [a fact]." "There are [a fact]."
Il y a vingt étudiants dans notre classe.
Il n'y a pas de beurre dans le frigo.
• When using the pronoun en, place it in the order of all pronouns, namely en always comes last.
Il y en a vingt. (There are 20 [of them].)
Il n'y en a pas. (There aren't any [of them].)
• Il y a used with a segment of time can also mean "ago".
Je l'a vu il y a deux semaines. (I saw it two weeks ago.)
•Voici and voilà point out physical loation (as in: "je vois ici" or "je vois là"). Voici is close; voilà is farther away.
• When using pronouns, place them before voici, voilà.
Voici ma voiture. > La voici.
Voilà ton frère là-bas. > Le voilà.
