• Commands (Imperatives): Use the tu, nous, vous
forms without their subject pronouns.
N.B.: -er
verbs drop the -s in the tu form of the command.

• Irregular imperatives: These command forms come from the present subjunctive:
avoir: aie, ayons ayez (The underlined letters sound like the French word "et", not like an American sailor: "Aye aye!")
[e] [ejõ] [eje] = phonetic transcription
être: sois, soyons, soyez
[swa] [swajõ] [swaje] = phonetic transcription (not like "soy sauce")
savoir: sache, sachons, sachez
l'Imparfait
• Take the nous form of the present indicative. Remove -ons. Add imperfect endings.

le Passé composé
• Use helping verbs avoir or être + past participles.
• To form the past participle, drop the infinitive ending and add the participle ending:

| parl(er) > parlé | fin(ir) > fini | vend(re) > vendu |
• Most verbs use avoir as helping verb. The following list plus reflexive verbs use être. [See chart on passé composé page.]
arriver, entrer, rentrer

venir, devenir, revenir
monter descendre
tomber
naître mourir, décéder

le Futur
• The same endings are added to the whole infinitive. N.B.: -re verbs lose their final -e.
Note also that the endings look like the present indicative of the verb avoir: ai, as, a, (av)ons, (av)ez, ont

• Conditional endings are the same as imparfait endings. Like future tense, add conditional endings to the infinitive.

• For the subjunctive stem, take the third person plural of the pesent
indicative and drop the -ent.
