Trouble Spots

PLACE

Ah, if we could only learn French before English! Place is only trouble in English.

• The English word place in French is endroit. It is a physical location such as a place to eat, a place to live.

[It's a place where you can meet people.]
[It's a good place to relax.]

• The French word place means a seat (a place to sit down),
or enough room (space) to do something.
It also means a public square (park).

[Is there room (space) for me at this table?]

[I don't have enough room for my stuff.]

Regarde!
[Look! I have 2 seats for the play...]

[The Rond Point is a public square.]
