SO: alors, eh bien, donc, si
•To announce the beginning of a decision or a conclusion, ("So. . ." followed by a slight pause), choose from: alors, ainsi, donc, eh bien.
Donc and ainsi also mean "therefore."
Le Petit Chaperon Rouge voulait voir sa grand-mère, alors
elle est entrée dans la forêt.
[. . .so she went
into the forest.]
Il a mis toute son énergie dans ce projet, donc il a réussi.
[. . . therefore
he succeeded.]
Eh bien, il est finalement parti.
[Well/So, he finally
left.]
•Si usually means "if."
Je le ferai si tu veux.
Si can also be an intensifier, like tellement.
Elle est si (tellement) petite qu'elle a des problèmes à acheter ses robes.
J'ai tellement
faim!
[I'm sooooo hungry!]
