Essay Questions: 5 of these will defnintely be on the test. If it says definition, then be sure to give a definition. Examples are good but they supplement the definition, not replace it. Try not to use pronouns - be specific about the who's and what's that you're discussing. I give partial credit, so put something down even if you think you don't know the whole perfect answer. Each essay question is worth 10 points.

  6. What role did Edison play in the development of electronic media? Do you think it is an overall positive or negative role? Why?
  7. Describe the technology cycle and how it has affected the development of communication technology - use newspapers as an example
  8. what is media literacy and what do we mean by being a media consumer?
  9. Name and describe three things that moderate the effects of communication Why might media effects be different for internet users than for users of more traditional media?
  10. How come we have media regulation if we have the First Amendment?
  11. What is narrowcasting and how is it like niche publishing (niche magazines)?

Extra Credit: There are 5 multiple choice questions worth one point each for extra credit and one short answer essay question. Here it is. In your opinion, what will affect communication media in the 21st century (the rest of it anyway) ­ have to talk about something other than the internet. I''m not looking for single word answers here. This question is worth 5 points.
