Leader says:
Bless the Lord who is blessed.
Congregation and Leader together:
Blessed be the Lord who is blessed forever and ever.
1. Blessing for the coming of evening.
Blessed are you, Lord our God, Ruler of the universe, who by your word brings on the evening.
By wisdom you open the gates (of heaven), and
by understanding you change the times,
cause the seasons to alter, and
order the stars in their courses in heaven,
according to your will.
You create day and night,
rolling light from before darkness, and darkness from before light,
causing day to pass and night to come,
and dividing day from night,
the Lord of hosts is your name.
Living and eternal God, may you always rule over us forever and ever.
Blessed are you, Lord, who brings on the evening.
2. God's love for the people of Israel
You have loved the house of Israel, your people, with everlasting love.
Torah and commandments, laws and statutes you have taught us.
Therefore, Lord our God, when we lie down and when we rise up we speak of your laws,
and we will rejoice in the words of your Torah and your commandments forever and ever.
They are our life and our length of days,
and we will meditate on them day and night.
Never take away your love from us.
Blessed are you, Lord, who loves His people Israel.
