MBA Program
As the co-chair of the Curriculum Committee, played a major role in developing the MBA program at Ithaca College. Personally developed three courses for this program (Marketing Management; Operations Management and Advanced Technology; and Electronic Commerce) and developed a third one (Selected Topics in MBA Research) with other colleagues. Currently serving as the Chairperson of the Graduate Faculty.
Marketing Major/Minor
I led the development of the marketing program in the early 1980s. This included conducting student surveys and analysis to establish the demand for a marketing major; creation of Ithaca College Marketing Club which led to the establishment of American Marketing Association (AMA) Ithaca College chapter; development of the curriculum and several new courses (e.g. Marketing Research, International Marketing, and Quantitative Methods); preparation of documentation for the approval of the major and the minor by the School Curriculum Committee and College Academic Policies Committees; and faculty recruitment. In later years, I worked in the refinements of the Marketing major and the minor.
International Business Major/Minor I played an important role in the development of International courses since I joined Ithaca College as a faculty member. In late 1970s, with two other colleagues we developed and team-taught the "International Business Operations" course. This course was developed before the importance of "International" component in Business curriculum was recognized by the AACSB and others, and perhaps Ithaca College was among only a few schools in the nation that offered an International Business courses at the time.
In early 1980s, I played a major role in the development of the International Business major and the minor at Ithaca College. My contribution included a student survey and analysis to determine potential demand, help in the design of the curriculum, and development of two courses (e.g. International Business Operations (jointly) and Special Topics: Europe 1992). I was heavily involved in later revisions of the major and the minor.
Mathematics/Computers
I have served on a number of coordination committees that influenced the coverage in Mathematics and computer courses for Business students. I was also involved in the evaluation of computers (mainframe, mini, micro) for the needs of our students since early 1980s. I incorporated computer applications into the courses that I taught since my early days at Ithaca College. I have used computer software such as Storm, SPSS-X, Minitab, QuattroPro, Excel, PowerPoint, Claris HomePage, and Rades as teaching tools in a variety of courses that I taught in the past. During the recent years, I took the lead in the Business School in using the World Wide Web (WWW) as a research and teaching tool. I taught HTML to many of many of my students and some student clubs and helped them to create their home pages on the Web. I also played a major role in collecting information and creating home pages for the Business School.
Advising
I have served as the major advisor of 25-50 students every semester since I joined Ithaca College as a faculty member. In addition, I have served as one of the advisors for students minoring in Marketing and/or International Business. I have also served as a summer orientation advisor for many years. Finally, as a participant in a new Ithaca College Program, I have served as a faculty mentor for a number of International students.
