UNSAL -- INTERNATIONAL MARKETING

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE TERM PROJECT

  1. GENERAL

The written component of the term project will consist of approximately 15-20 double-spaced pages, excluding tables, illustrations, appendices, and bibliography. It is expected that each group member will read and analyze at least 6 "quality" references to be incorporated into the paper. It is assumed that you will use proper grammar, correct spelling and an appropriate term paper style (You can use the following structural guide if you wish).

  2. SUGGESTED STRUCTURE FOR THE TERM PAPER

  3. RECOMMENDATIONS FOR REFERENCES

    1. In the text, when you provide statistics, or present an idea that is not common knowledge, you should provide the source. If your source has an author, then show it in the following way: (Williams, 1990, pp. 10-15). If it is from a newspaper or magazine and the author is unknown, then: (Wall Street Journal, March 20, 1991, p. A22). All of the works cited in the text should be listed in full format under References section at the end of the paper.

    2. The reference list at the end of the paper should be alphabetized by author. The following are some examples for different types of sources:

      For Books:

Dunning, John H., Multinational Enterprises and the Global Economy, (New York: Addison-Wesley, 1993), pp. 345-350.

The World Bank, The World Development Report 1993, (New York: Oxford University Press, 1993), p. 296.

      For Journal/Magazine Articles

Ray, E. John, "Global Pollution Effects of U.S. Protectionism," The International Trade Journal, Winter 1995, pp. 475-493.

The Wall Street Journal, "China's Closed Door,"The Wall Street Journal, January 18, 1996, p. A14.

  4. RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE PRESENTATIONS

    1. Hand out a 1-2 page summary of your findings and some of the relevant statistics to the class before your presentation so that people can follow you better.

    2. Practice your presentation beforehand. You are allotted 25 minutes. Do not make it too long or too short!

    3. Know your material well so that you can respond to questions from the class.

    4. Talk to the class. DO NOT read your paper. Please note that substantial number of points will be deducted from your oral presentation grade if you just read your paper to the class.

    5. Use clean and legible visual materials to enhance your presentation.
