The Age of the American Revolution Web Sites The American Revolution and its Era--This Library of Congress site provides maps (including those of battles and military campaigns) and charts of North America and the West Indies between 1750 and 1789 . The Boston Massacre Trials--From the Famous American Trials Collection Liberty! The American Revolution--This PBS site provides some basic information and some very useful links to other sites about the American Revolution. Religion and the Founding of the American Republic --This Library of Congress exhibition "demonstrates that many of the colonies that in 1776 became the United States of America were settled by men and women of deep religious convictions who in the seventeenth century crossed the Atlantic Ocean to practice their faith freely." It focuses mainly on the era of the American Revolution, but there is an excellent discussion of religion and colonization in the 17th century. Early Virginia Religious Petitions--A collaborative project between the Library of Congress and The Library of Virginia, this site includes more than 400 petitions submitted between 1774 and 1802. Colonial Hall: Biographies of America's Founding Fathers--This privately maintained site highlights the lives of individuals important to the early history of the US. Drums Along the Mohawk: The American Revolution on the New York Frontier--A brief overview of the progress of the American Revolution; includes tours of relevant sites and firsthand accounts. Political Women During the American Revolution--This is part of the Women and Social Movements Project. It provides background information, images, and documents relating to the Ladies Association of Philadelphia, 1780-1781. The World of Benjamin Franklin--This site briefly explores Franklin's roles as a scientist, an inventor, a statesman, a printer, a philosopher, a musician, and an economist. Includes a family tree, enrichment activities and resource materials. Benjamin Franklin: A Documentary History--arranged chronologically, this site has an easy-to-use search engine to navigate information about Franklin in specific decades, even years. Documents from the Continental Congress and the Constitutional Convention, 1774-1789--Contains 274 documents, including extracts from the journals of Congress, resolutions, proclamations, committee reports, and treaties. The Thomas Jefferson Papers at the Library of Congress--This comprehensive collection includes 83,000 images and approximately 27,000 documents that reflect Jefferson's broad range of interests. It also includes a timeline of Jefferson's life. The George Washington Papers at the Library of Congress--This site includes the largest single collection of original Washington documents in the world (65,000). Spy Letters of the American Revolution--includes letters, travel routes, methods and techniques, and a timeline. Africans in America (PBS)--America's journey through slavery is presented in four parts. For each era, you'll find a historical Narrative, a Resource Bank of images, documents, stories, biographies, and commentaries. The Founders' Constitution--This site includes the full text of the US Constitution along with primary sources that illustrate the reasoning behind this crucial document.
