Welcome to Fake Out!

Spring 1994, Our First Season

Fake Out started in the Spring Semester of 1994. Created for ICTV by Alan Asarch, a 1996 IC graduate, that first semester was hosted by professor Gordon Webb.

Fall 1994, Season #2

Fake Out's second semester was again produced by Alan Asarch, and was again hosted by our old friend Gordon Webb. Late in Fall 1994, Fake Out had its first live episode, on December 12. This episode later won a PEGASYS award for "live programming".

Spring 1995, Season #3

This season Fake Out was produced by Laurie Hoppes '97. The big change for Fake Out for the Spring semester was our new host, music professor Greg Woodward.

Fall 1995, Season #4

The 1995 summer break brought extensive changes to Fake Out. First there was new producer, Eric Sherling '96, and a new host, this time a student, Kirsten Carlson '96. Then, we found out that we had a new set, as well as a prime time ICTV slot! Fall 1995 was the most ambitious semester yet. During our ten episodes, we had our special "Tournament of the Deans," in which we got all five deans to be our contestants. Our other special episode was the "Tournament of the Losers," in which we brought back four contestants that had lost all their points and gave them a chance to redeem themselves.

Spring 1996, Season #5

The new semester brought another new producer, Dawn Garcia '98. Another five live shows were produced this semester. In March, Fake Out won a National Broadcasting Society Award for Best College Variety Show for the "Tournament of the Losers" episode (See Fall 1995).

Fall 1996, Season #6

Our new producer for season six was Eric Bordin '98. We taped another six live shows, and got a new logo. The big highlight of this semester was Fake Out's 50th episode!

Spring 1997, Season #7

We taped six live shows this semester. The most bizarre incident in Fake Out history happened in the Spring - The Control Room Door Incident. It was early in the semester, and we were ready to start taping, when the control room door closed. The bad thing was... it wouldn't open again. The studio techs tried to get the door open, to no avail. And time was a wasting, so we had to get on with the show. Meanwhile, Physical Plant had been called to investigate. So, while we're trying to tape the show, all we can hear are these loud bangs as the person from Physical Plant is literally taking the door lock apart! Quite an interesting night...

Fall 1997, Season #8

This season our producer was Eric Hudson '98. On December 1st we taped our 75th episode, definately a highlight of the season.

Spring 1998, Season #9

The new year brought us a new host, Ben Raymond, as well as new announcer, Nancy Matta.

Fall 1998, Season #10

More live shows were done under the producership of Gillian Weinstein and director Sarah Fu. Some of the exciting shows on tap this semester included an episode with the Newswatch 54 anchors as contestants, and another with the boys of Master Control as liars.

Spring 1999, Season #11

This season included Fake Out's 100th episode! New additions for this semester included producers Ben Dobson and Eric Noar, hosts Adam Stanco and Emily Thompson, and the updated web page, complete with a game of Fake Out.

Fall 1999, Season #12

Ben Dobson and Eric Noar continued producing Fake Out this season. New editions included a re-worked web page using FLASH, and two teams of talent.

Spring 2000, Season #13
