The Silent Treatment
I am talking to the future
but the future doesn’t hear
or won’t reply. I ask,
“What will happen if
I make that choice or this,
if I pursue one course of action
or another? ”
But the future will not answer,
the future does not bother
even to acknowledge my requests.
It sits there
so silent and impassive
I wonder if it’s even there at all.
