|Hunger and malnutrition in central India.|
Life and Freedom (Anurag Singh, India, 2013; 47 min.) India is home to 200 million starving people, the largest population on the planet. In Madhya Pradesh, central India, “primitive” tribes like the Sahariyas face the worst case of hunger. Life and Freedom takes a look at the nature of this malnutrition. It presents two stories, the life of the Sahariyas who are without forest access, and that of another primitive tribal group, the Baigas who have won rights to their forest land. The film goes beyond hunger to examine malnutrition.
