David Turkon is Associate Professor of Anthropology at Ithaca College. His research focuses on Southern Africa, political ecology, communities, HIV/AIDS, refugee resettlement. He has worked in Lesotho exploring how centralized government and integration into the global economy affects the lives of Basotho. He has collaborated with Catholic Relief Services, Lesotho and the University of South Florida Department of Anthropology to understand and mitigate the impacts of HIV and AIDS in rural Lesotho. He has served as a cultural adviser, mentor, and an elected member of the board of directors of the AZ Lost Boys Center, dealing with Sudanese refugees.
