Sally Russell '11
Sally Russell, FLEFF Intern Alumna
Art History
Class of 2011
Scottsdale, AZ
I graduated from Ithaca College in May of 2011 with a degree in Art History.
I interned with Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival my senior year. My only regret is not getting involved earlier!
I participated in FLEFF as an audience member all three years prior to getting involved. I was always amazed by the variety and caliber of events we had on campus and downtown.
I felt that secretly the FLEFF schedule was catered to me: there was always a film or performance that related to what I was studying or something I was interested in.
When I filled out the internship application I was uncertain of how I would fit into the the Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival as an art history major. But once involved, I found that everyone was incredibly welcoming.
I entered the FLEFF community in a leadership role as the Assistant to the Internship Coordinators. In this position I met so many different people: faculty members, people from the community of Ithaca, Ithaca College students, filmmakers, and other arts related individuals.
I was really proud to see the FLEFF interns come together with everyone else to create a wonderful and significant festival experience.
FLEFF at Ithaca College really helps build dialogue and interactions between the various schools on campus and strengthens our sense of community. I am thrilled to say I was a part of it.
