Ithaca College students can engage and immerse in the Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival in many ways and forms. See one film, binge on ten films, attend free concerts, spend a day at FLEFF Lab, learn from our special guests in a master class, hang out at a meet-up, expand your mind in a mini-course, become a fellow or contribute as an intern. Move beyond your comfort zone!
ATTEND A FREE ON CAMPUS FESTIVAL EVENT.
All events—including our annual FLEFF multimedia concert-- on the IC campus are FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. Just come early to insure you get a seat! Many of your classes might also be hosting FLEFF films, programs or guests.
BUY A HALF-PRICE FESTIVAL PASS.
Any and all Ithaca College students can secure festival five passes for screenings at Cinemapolis during FLEFF at the Ithaca College bookstore for HALF PRICE by simply showing a student ID! (of course, you can also buy a ticket to one screening, but you won’t find a better deal than our own bookstore…)
TAKE A FLEFF MINI COURSE
FLEFF sponsors 5-10 mini-courses each year, taught by faculty from across the schools of Ithaca College. These one credit mini-courses relate to the annual theme. Some run the entire term, some run during Block II, some run only during the week of the festival—but all use the festival programming and guests as the course content. Just register online!
BECOME A FLEFF JUNIOR FELLOW
For students seeking to learn more about the creative industries of international festivals and who have no prior festival experience, FLEFF offers a one-credit course called FESTIVALS. You’ll learn about the history, functions, and operations of festival, and then immerse in the festival with one of our FLEFF curators as your guide. Everyone enrolled in the course receives a FLEFF Junior Fellow lanyard (and an impressive line on their resume). Junior Fellows enjoy special access to festival staff and guests. Simply register for GCOM 12000. No application necessary but it is first come, first served.
WORK AS A FLEFF INTERN
Experience the intensity of a festival from the inside--operations, social media, marketing, hospitality, event management, leading a team, blogging. Mentored by industry professionals and producers who know the business and work with FLEFF, you can contribute as an intern, social media manager, team leader, assistant, or blogger—and receive credit. All categories of interns enroll in our one-credit non-liberal arts practica. Bloggers enroll in a special three-credit liberal arts professional blogging seminar. All positions are competitive and require an application (due this year by November 4). Students who have previously enrolled in a FLEFF mini-course or the Festivals course as junior fellows receive priority consideration. GCOM 21200 for interns, GCOM31200 for bloggers. In exchange for their work, all levels of interns receive a complimentary festival five-pass to films at Cinemapolis.
