Institute Fellows and Affiliates
Institute Affiliates are faculty members working in or with a significant interest in gerontology. The primary responsibilities of Institute Affiliates are to serve as resource persons for the Institute and to assist the director to identify information relevant to gerontology projects. They may also be called upon to provide an occasional class lecture, participate in a campus or community education presentation or forum, or serve on an ad-hoc committee. They will also be asked to assist in the dissemination of information on Institute activities to faculty members in their departments. Two designations have been developed to recognize these faculty persons. They are Gerontology Institute Affiliates and Gerontology Institute Fellows. Affiliates are approved by Institute faculty to three-year renewable terms, and Affiliates who become Fellows start a new “clock” with the designation. Current Institute Fellows include Katherine Beissner, Professor, PT; Susan Durnford, Assistant Professor SLPA; Katharyn Machan, Professor, Writing; Janice Monroe, Associate Professor, Recreation and Leisure Studies; Susanne Morgan, Associate Professor, Sociology; and, John Stephens, Assistant Professor, SLPA.
More information about Affiliates and Fellows can be found in our guidelines, and current Affiliates and Fellows can be seen on our Affiliates and Fellows list.
