Creativity As We Age
Collage

Our featured artist, Annette Corth, is a perfect example of how creativity can enhance the aging process. Annette started painting “seriously” in 1980 and has been at it ever since.  Her primary medium is watercolors, but she frequently combines them with pastels, ink, or collage.  She began with representative art but now favors the freedom and challenge of abstraction.  Design, color, and movement, are key factors in her work.

Some of Annette’s other interests include poetry writing, gardening, working with stained glass (check out her panels in the chapel at Longview), classical music, theatre, and in her more vigorous years, skiing, racquet ball, and tai chi.

Each year the Gerontology Institute's annual fall conference addresses an important theme related to aging. Recent conferences have focused on topics such as the workforce crisis in long term care, livable communities, dementia, and mental health. We strive to keep the conferences affordable, and attract large numbers of people, mainly professionals in aging. This year's conference is shaping up to be one of our best:
