Scholarship Recipients
Each year, Ithaca College donors contribute scholarship aid that enables IC students to pursue their dreams. Hear from some of our scholarship recipients about the difference scholarships have made in their lives.
Scholarship Donors
They're the dream makers for many IC students, these generous and dedicated alumni, parents, friends, faculty, staff, students, and trustees who have created scholarships because they believe in the hopes and dreams of the next generation. Their stories are an inspiration to anyone who believes in "paying it forward."
President's Associates Spring 2008 Reception
Ithaca College's President's Associates were treated to a special performance of the Verdi Requiem at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall on April 15, 2008, by members of the Ithaca College Choir (conducted by professor of music performance Lawrence Doebler), the Ithaca College Women's Chorale (conducted by professor of music education Janet Galván), the Ithaca College Chorus (also conducted by Janet Galván), and the Ithaca College Symphony Orchestra (conducted by assistant professor of music performance Jeffery Meyer).
President Peggy R. Williams, who retired June 30, 2008, thanked the President's Associates for supporting the College during the six and a half years of the Campaign for Ithaca College: Making a World of Difference and announced the appointment of Ithaca's new president, Thomas R. Rochon.
Other announcements made at the event included introductions of Ithaca's new dean of the School of Music, Greg Woodward, M.M. '78, and the College's new dean of the School of Humanities and Sciences, Leslie Lewis. Woodward and Lewis succeeded Art Ostrander and Howard Erlich, respectively, upon their retirement at the close of the academic year.
During the event, Michael Kaplan '85, president of the Ithaca College Alumni Association Board of Directors, and Marsha Eger '70, executive director of alumni programs, presented Jay Linden '72, co-chair of the President's Associates, with a surprise alumni award to honor his outstanding leadership and volunteerism.
The performance by approximately 150 IC music students, as well as several faculty members and an alumna, included solos by associate professor of music performance Randie Blooding (baritone), professor of music performance David Parks (tenor), Sharon Sweet, M.M. '78 (soprano), and Leah Summers (mezzo-soprano).
