The Ithaca College Certificate in Applied Gerontology is designed for health and aging services professionals (nurses, social workers, administrators, dieticians, recreation therapists, activity directors, occupational and physical therapists, and others) who wish to increase their knowledge about aging. The Certificate provides students with: 1) an understanding of the biological/health, social and psychological aspects of human aging; 2) knowledge of the policies related to aging and older adults; and 3) skills to better serve older clients or patients and their families.

This certificate program is unique in its blended learning approach. Students have the convenience and flexibility afforded by online courses, combined with the opportunity to meet their fellow students in workshops and in the final on-campus course.

The program includes:

GERO 21000  Health and Aging (3 credits)
GERO 31900  Aging and Social Policy (3 credits)
  • A final course, offered on the Ithaca College campus over a weekend
