Hi! Thanks for visiting my page.
I am really excited to be living here in Ithaca, and to be working at the College. My journey here has been a long one, but interesting.
I graduated with my Ph.D. from Bowling Green State University (Ohio) in 2001. From there, I moved to Evansville, IN to teach at the University of Southern Indiana. Three weeks after I arrived, the world changed with the events that unfolded on September 11th. As such, funding and hiring were frozen, and I went back on the job market to take a position at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh (UWO).
I was there 2 years and decided in 2004 to move closer to my family-- taking a position at Western Michigan University. A similar situation occurred in which funding was suspended and several people lost their jobs, including me. I then became unemployed.
It was the best thing that could have happened, for with all my experience, I was hired by the unemployment agency to help dislocated workers like myself find employment, interview, create resumes and cover letters, etc. I loved every minute of working with this population and am going to continue working in the field of job development.
After a year and a half of searching for employment, Ithaca College offered me an excellent opportunity to get back into the academic environment. I can now bring my "real world" experiences back into the classroom and engage students in one of the most crucial aspects of our time.
To this end, my primary teaching responsibilities are to teach classes focusing on organizational communication issues. Right now, this fall semester 2006, I am teaching Crisis Management and Communication in International Organizations. Next semester, Spring 2007, I will be teaching Organizational Culture and Diversity at the graduate level, and Corporate Communication and Government and Stakeholder Relations at the undergraduate level.
