Howard Kalman Participates on Panel at Educational Communications and Technology Conference in Anaheim

Howard K. Kalman, assistant professor of communication management and design in the Department of
Strategic Communication, participated in a panel presentation, "Best Practices for Teaching an
Introductory Instructional Design Course," at the Association for Educational Communications and
Technology conference in Anaheim, California, on October 25.
Kalman discussed how a spiral approach to course design was used to provide ample practice and
accelerate depth of student learning. In addition, he described instructional strategies that help
students overcome common learning difficulties.
