Athanasios Dalianas
My name is Athanasios Dalianas and I am a new graduate student from Thessaloniki, Greece. I received my B.S. degree from the School of Physical Education of the Aristotelian University in historic Thessaloniki, Greece.
I have chosen to concentrate as a graduate student on Physical Education –I am also very much interested in Sport Management. In the beginning of this summer (June-July) I had the unique opportunity to work as a coordinator during the Special Olympics World Summer Games, held in Athens. This experience has taught me a lot about combining the teaching of physical education, and its socio-cultural extension with its application to sport and competition –especially for those with intellectual disabilities- from a leadership perspective. Now in regard to my academic and career aspirations, I may mention that I am keenly interested in pursuing an academic career upon my return to Greece.
I became primarily interested in Ithaca College because it provides quality theoretical education and practical experience, which will help me acquire knowledge, management skills and confidence to assume leadership positions in the future. I am confident that Ithaca College will fulfill all of my graduate needs in my chosen field.
