Courses

The health education degree offers both a thesis and non-thesis option.  Both options include a professional core of 9 credits, a health education content emphasis of 12 credits, and 9 additional credits of course work.  A total of 30 credits are required.

• Health Education Courses (12 credits)
  • Teaching and Learning: School and Community Health (3 cr)
  • Models and Theories in Health Education (3 cr)
  • Methods of Assessment in School and Community Settings (3 cr)
  • Epidemiological Approaches to Disease Prevention and Control (3 cr)
• Restricted electives (3 cr)
  • Students choose 3 1-credit seminars from current offerings; topics change yearly
• Electives (6 cr) 
  • Non-thesis - 6 credits of electives (Note that students who choose a non-thesis option must pass a comprehensive exam to graduate)
  • Thesis - Thesis I  (3 cr) and Thesis II (3 Cr)
