Professional Programs

The Healthy Musician: Injury Prevention and Intervention for Musicians and Health Care Providers, Levels I & II
Designed for musicians and health care providers, this comprehensive program of seminars and hands-on workshops will focus on musical performance and health. A multidisciplinary faculty will examine the physical and mental factors that affect both the musician and performance and will discuss the care and prevention of music-related injuries. Media Literacy Summer Institute
This workshop, presented by the Ithaca College Project Look Sharp program, is designed for teachers, support staff, and other professionals working with students in an educational setting. Participants receive training in the theory and practice of media literacy, learn applications for digital technology, and work individually with a Project Look Sharp "coach" to develop and implement a media literacy integration project. Hands-on production is Mac-based. Graduate credit is available. Further information, including registration instructions, is available by phone at 607-274-3471 or by e-mail at looksharp@ithaca.edu.

Pre-M.B.A. Program

Individuals who have completed their undergraduate education in a non-business field have the opportunity to enter Ithaca College's one-year M.B.A. program. Pre-M.B.A. modules are offered each summer and meet four nights per week (usually Monday through Thursday) and are open to all college graduates, regardless of undergraduate major. Undergraduate degree and cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.5 is required. Enrollment is limited to 20 students. Pre-M.B.A. credits do not apply to the M.B.A. degree requirements. The registration period for the summer modules begins in April until the first day of the module.

Graduate Study in Education

Ithaca College offers two graduate programs in education, both designed to prepare academically-talented liberal arts graduates for careers as teachers. The Adolescence Education (M.A.T.) program provides initial certification for middle school and high school teaching, grades 7-12, and the Childhood Education (M.S.) program provides initial certification for elementary school teaching, grades 1-6. Youth Programs

IC offers specially designed residential academic youth programs that enable qualified high school students to take advantage of the College’s extensive faculty and facilities and to experience life on a college campus.

Summer Piano Institute
Talented young pianists, ages 12 to 18, are invited by Ithaca College’s School of Music to participate in 10 days of intensive piano study. The Summer Piano Institute is a comprehensive program of varied musical experience that uses the superb facilities of the James J. Whalen Center for Music, where nationally and internationally known piano faculty provide a lively array of daily lessons, workshops, classes, and supervised practice. The 10-day schedule allows for more optional practice, study, or homework time; or the chance just to relax. Field trips, picnics, special weekend events, and other social activities are also offered. For application information visit our website at www.ithaca.edu/gps/piano or phone 607-274-3143.

Summer College for High School Students
In this pre-college program, students experience college life while living in a safe environment. The three-week program is designed for students who have completed their sophomore or junior year in high school. These students choose one of six courses, and earn two or three college credits. The one-week minicourses are open to all qualified high school students. In this program students get a chance to immerse themselves in a particular subject area while living on a college campus. Students may enroll in one or both minicourse sessions, as well as the three-week session. All minicourse participants will receive a certificate of completion.
