Christie Larrabee
My name is Christie Larrabee and this is my first semester here at Ithaca College. I am pursuing my MS in Health Education. I moved to Ithaca about two years ago after a yearlong stay in San Francisco, where I gained my first experience coaching girls’ volleyball.
I have my BS in Health Science with NYS teaching certificates in Childhood Education, Special Education (1-6) and Health Education (K-12). I graduated in 2009 with my Bachelor’s and am so excited to begin writing the next chapter of my professional career.
Upon moving to Ithaca, I became a preschool teacher in the Fall Creek Neighborhood and took some time getting to know the city. Ithaca has so much to offer, and is such a great fit for me that it was a no-brainer that I further my education at IC! With a little encouragement from the chair of the Department, Dr. Srijana M. Bajracharya, I decided not to wait another year to begin the program as I was intending. I am so thankful that she cares enough to reach out and stir up some excitement in her students, because I couldn’t imagine beginning this program at any other time.
When I complete my studies, I am looking forward to branching out into community outreach and public health services. I am open to the possibilities this degree will afford me, and I am thrilled to see how it all unfolds. Who knows, maybe my next stop will be at Christie Larrabee, Ph.D!
