Meet the Current Students

Emma Dewart

I graduated from Ithaca College in May 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in Health Promotion & Physical Education. While completing my undergraduate education I had the opportunity to be involved in many different activities and organizations on campus including the women’s indoor and outdoor track and field team, women’s club basketball team, HPPE majors club, IC Student United Way, as well as a few others. During my educational experiences at Ithaca, especially the time I spent student teaching and at the NYSAPHERD conference, I became more and more interested in the field of health education.

My increased interest in the health education field combined with the amazing experiences I had as an undergrad and the relationships I had developed with my professors in the field made choosing Ithaca College’s health education graduate program an easy choice. Along with furthering my knowledge in the area of health education I was also given the opportunity to work with the women’s track and field team as a graduate assistant coach. Coaching is another area in which I would like to gain more knowledge and expertise and this gave me the perfect opportunity to do so.

After receiving my master’s degree in health education my plans are to find a job teaching health at the secondary level or coaching at the collegiate level. My lifelong goal is to obtain my administrative degree and eventually my PhD. in order to become a high school or university athletic director. Ithaca College has given me the tools necessary to continue on towards my lifelong goal and prepare me for a promising future.
