The areas of professional practice for speech-language pathologists are rapidly expanding, as are the types of clients they are expected to serve. In less than two years, our master’s program in speech-language pathology maximizes opportunities for broad clinical experience as well as academic instruction. We prepare students to meet all requirements for the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association certificate of clinical competence in speech-language pathology (CCC-SLP) and for New York State licensure requirements.

Designed for full-time study, our program comprises 52 to 54 credits of coursework, including classes in phonological disorders, aphasia, stuttering, and neurological processes, and concludes with a thesis or comprehensive examination. Historically, Ithaca College graduates have performed well on the praxis exam and enjoyed excellent career prospects.

Integral to the program are clinical externships, during which students experience the rigors and responsibilities of full-time professional work. The department is proud of our outstanding reputation among externship supervisors and employers. Some of our recent graduates are currently working at

  • Columbus Speech and Hearing Center, Columbus, Ohio

  • First Step/Heart Share, New York, New York

  • Franziska Racker Centers, Ithaca, New York

  • Mercy Hospital, Springfield, Massachusetts

  • Mississauga Hospital, Mississauga, Ontario

  • New Medico, Apple Valley, California
