Admission Requirements for the Graduate Programs in Education:

Admission to the adolescence education and childhood education programs is selective. Applicants must have earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 (on a 4.00 scale) from an accredited college or university. Applicants are also expected to provide evidence of a(n)

  • Strong background in the liberal arts and sciences
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse students in educational settings
  • Enthusiastic, creative, and reflective approach to teaching and learning
  • Interest in innovation and reform in today’s schools

Individuals interested in either program are encouraged to take the Liberal Arts and Sciences Test (LAST) prior to admission, as it is one of three exams required for New York State teacher certification. A preparation guide for the NY certification exams is available on this website as well.
