Tuition: Ithaca College offers reduced tuition for graduate students interested in pursuing careers in the teaching profession.
Room and Board: No campus housing is available for graduate students. Information on housing alternatives is available through the Office of Residential Life.
Graduate Assistantships
A limited number of Graduate
Assistantships in Education are available on a competitive basis. Assistantships are awarded to
candidates with strong academic records and the ability to assist program-area faculty with research
and development efforts, especially those connected with our school and community
partnerships. Assistantships provide approximately 9-12 credits of tuition support
(non-taxable) and require 10-12 hours of work (taxable) per week.
Math and Science Teaching Initiatives
New York State has just approved a new Math & Science Teaching Incentive Program, which will
provide grants to help eligible students pay for tuition costs. Full-time students matriculating
in an approved undergraduate or graduate program that leads to a math or science teaching career in
secondary education are eligible to apply. This is a competitive grant program which will be awarded to
500 students each year after the successful completion of the school year.
Students receiving Math & Science Teaching Incentive Program grants must enter into a contract to
teach math or science for five years on a full-time basis in New York State.
Note: This is a newly-created program to increase the number of middle
and secondary math and science teachers in New York State. Funds will not be available until spring or
summer 2007-- continue to check for updates.
Other Financial Aid Possibilities
The Financial
Aid Office at Ithaca College can provide information about additional sources of financial support
and loans for graduate students.
Health insurance is available through Ithaca College for the full year (September-August). Brochures on the College's policy are available at the health center and at registration. There is no coverage for summer only, nor is there coverage for dependents.
