Dear Parents of Students in the Department of Sport Management and Media:

One of the reasons we have hosted the Careers in Sport Symposium on Family Weekend over the years is to create an avenue for you to meet the faculty in your son or daughter's major department and to give you an opportunity to better understand what the demands of their academic programs require here at Ithaca College.

As each year passes, the opportunities available to students in our department grow exponentially. As you may be aware, this past summer we had approximately 20 students working for the Olympic News Service in Beijing and we have over 60 students interning with sport organizations throughout the United States as well as oversees in Australia, England, and other countries. Earlier this summer, students participated in our International Sport Administration class in London while plans are in place to take a group of upper level students to the NCAA Convention in January of 2009 in Washington DC.

The Careers in Sport Symposium showcases just a small portion of the kinds of graduate and faculty resources that can be brought to bear in assisting your daughter or son in fulfilling their dreams. We look forward to seeing you Family Weekend.

Sincerely,

Ellen J. Staurowsky, Ed.D.
Professor & Graduate Chair
