Jim Kennedy '99

Jim was recently hired as a Program Officer for the Community Health Foundation of Western and Central NY. He is the first full-time Program Officer for the CNY region and his responsibilities include working with health and human services agencies develop their resources to enhance their capacity to serve the needs of children in communities of poverty and frail elders. His office is located in Syracuse. Previously, Jim was the Executive Director of the Cayuga Community Health Network, a rural health network located in Auburn NY where he started working in 1999 after completing his master's degree in Organizational Communication, Learning and Design as a Park Fellow at IC.

He earned his Bachelors Degree in Communication Arts from Marist College in 1977 and a master's degree in social work administration from Rutgers University in 1982.  

Jim has served on the New York State Hospital Review and Planning Council since 2002 and he chairs the Council's planning committee. He was the second president of the New York State Association for Rural Health, and he currently serves on the City of Geneva Democratic Committee where he recently served as platform committee chair.

He has taught at the undergraduate and graduate levels at Ithaca College and the Rochester extension of the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy / SUNY Albany, respectively.   His most recent courses offerings were in Health Communications at IC.  

He and his wife Peg live in Geneva NY and they have two sons Sam, who is pursing a masters degree in industrial and organizational psychology at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology, and Joe, a senior at John Carroll University in Cleveland.
