Mosaic mural by Emma Amos

Filmed by an award-winning producer, these documentary videos offer a unique way to experience contemporary art. The videos were created and produced by Linda Freeman and written and directed by David Irving. They provide an intimate and personal look at both the lives and work of African American women artists, profiling the human beings behind the art -- their personal relationships, joys, and struggles.

The showing of these videos about African American women artists is a welcome complement to the "Reverberations: Music of the African Diaspora" series. We invite you to take advantage of this opportunity to consider the creative process, the importance of art to our lives, and the vitality of aesthetic expression within the African American community.
