Hiring Student Employee(s) this fall

Attend a session for important information you will need to know before hiring your student employee(s) this fall.

Beginning the week of August 1, we will be holding informational sessions. These sessions will talk about a new classification structure for all student jobs, pay scale structures and also the new student employee orientation program, all of which are designed to establish consistent hiring and pay practices for students throughout the College.  

We will also be discussing employment practices and how they will not only benefit each department but how they will benefit each and every student employee on Campus.  Student employees carry out a substantial amount of the work completed within offices and departments every day and creating real world work skills and experiences is a huge benefit for them.   

All staff and or faculty that oversee or have interaction with a student worker should attend, not just the person entering the SMSS (student manager self service) transaction.  All staff and faculty may have SMSS access; this allows for the actual person overseeing work performance is the supervisor and also allows Ithaca College to be in compliance with many regulations.  Attending a session or scheduling individual group sessions is strongly encouraged.  If you would like to schedule a session for all individuals within a department, please call to arrange a time. *Your next department staff meeting may be the perfect time.*   

Sessions will be held on:

Tuesday, Aug 2 from 2pm-4pm,

Wednesday, Aug 3 from 9am-11am

Wednesday, Aug 3 from 1pm-3pm

Thursday, Aug 4 from 10am-12pm

Wednesday, Aug 10 from 9am-11am
