STUDENT EMPLOYMENT OFFICE HOURS
Monday to Friday
8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Incoming first-year students are assigned to our largest employer, Dining Services, after completing the required employment paperwork during orientation sessions held throughout the summer. This process provides a smooth transition for the large number of students entering the college with employment awards and also permits students to begin working immediately. This initial placement is the only one assigned to students; students may access the JobShop database to find and apply for future positions.
Required employment paperwork for first-time employees includes:
The student employment office will be open during scheduled orientation sessions in order for students to complete employment paperwork. Additional information on required paperwork can be found on the Federal Guidelines page.
Placement
Students who complete these forms during orientation will be notified in, or prior to, August if a position is available in Dining Services and will be able to begin work at the start of the fall semester. Students who complete the forms at the start of the academic year may experience delayed job assignments and may find that there are no positions available immediately.
Ithaca College's policy is that while classes are in session, students are limited to working 20 hours per week, which includes all Ithaca College employment.
| ***In the spring semester, first-year students who qualify for a federal work study award may wish to be placed in our off-campus community service program, which provides employment with nonprofit agencies in and around the Ithaca area. The number of placements is limited, and referral by the Student Employment Office is required*** |
