Frequently Asked Questions
How do I choose a minor, and can I choose to double major in one of the Art History degrees and something else?
Many of our students choose to minor in another field that complements their studies with us. Some choose related humanities fields like History or English, some minor in a foreign language because the study of art and architecture is so closely associated with the study of other cultures. Others choose to minor in allied social sciences fields like Anthropology, or more professional studies like Business or Corporate Communications. There is an enormous range of possibility at Ithaca College for major/minor combinations that suit individual interests and career plans.
Because the Art History major requires 39 credit hours, and because a number of Art History courses also satisfy General Education requirements, it is not difficult for students to double major in Art History and some other program within the 120 credit hours needed to graduate.
