Frequently Asked Questions

Can I do an internship as part of my major?

Yes, we encourage our majors to seek out internships that will give them practical experience in fields related to the study of art or architecture -- in fact, one way of satisfying the major's "senior experience" requirement is to take an internship either during the senior year, or during the summer before the senior year.  The department offers a limited number of internships through its Handwerker Gallery, and a number of our students have also successfully arranged internships with local galleries, the Museum of the Earth, and the Herbert F. Johnson Museum on the Cornell campus.  Internships near your home town can always be arranged during the summer, although if you wish to receive credit for summer internships, the college requires that you pay tuition for those credits.  Students studying at the college's London Center can do an internship for credit as part of their London experience.
