Neuroscience Minor

Brandy Bessette-Symons, Psychology

Beth Caldwell, Psychology

Jean Hardwick, Biology

Ian Woods, Biology

 Ithaca College offers a Neuroscience minor for those students interested in an interdisciplinary study of the nervous system.  The minor includes courses from several departments, including Biology, Psychology, and Exercise Science.  The minor includes both classwork and a research/practicum experience

Since its birth in the 1970s, neuroscience has become a vital interdisciplinary field of training in science. Advances in cell and molecular biology, biochemistry, biophysics, and psychology have all contributed to the creation of this new field of study. Neuroscientists work in many areas of the basic and clinical sciences.

The minor has both classroom and practicum components, which are divided into five major categories:

  1. Introduction: behavioral neuroscience and behavioral neuroscience laboratory;
  2. Specialty area: neurobiology;
  3. Electives
  4. Practicum
  5. Capstone: seminar in neuroscience.

Do you want to be a member of the Neuroscience Club? This is a new student organization looking to provide students with an interest in the field of neuroscience with volunteer and charity-fundraising opportunities, as well as information into neuroscience-related careers and events.
