Chemistry Club

This is a club composed mostly of Chemistry and Biochemistry majors, although open to all majors. We focus on bringing science to our surroundings and college community through volunteering and various lectures. Chemistry Club is not all about chemistry, we like to have game and movie nights to just have fun. This is a good place to meet different people in your major and professors. Joining Chem club is easy, just show up to CNS 333 at 12:15pm every Thursday. Hope see you there! (Also check us out on IC Links! )

Spooky Science:

Spooky Science is an event that chemclub participates in every year at the local science center. We dress up and put on kid friendly demos for the children at the science center! Its a lot of fun and the science center is amazing!! If you choose to wear a costume (we encourage you to) make sure its kid appropriate and not scary (no masks). There will be a sign up for different demos posted in the chem club meeting 3 weeks from the date of spookie science. If you don't want to participate you can always come and watch! We had so much fun last year! Make sure you check out the photos!

End of Semester Pot Luck:

 

At the end of each semester the IC chem department has a potluck to celebrate. We have tons of good food and liquid Nitrogen ice cream to top it all off. Anyone can come and celebrate, but we ask that you either bring a dish to pass, or a $3.00 donation for food. If you choose to bring a dish to pass it is very important that you bring a label for your dish partaining to ever ingredient used. In the chemistry department we have very unusual food allergies that are life threatning. This event is very fun, and is a great way to meet and mingle with everyone involved in the chemistry department. Hope to see you there!! 

Chemistry Banquet:     MAY 3 2012 (5-7PM)

WHO: The Ithaca College chemistry department is having an "end of the year" banquet. Anyone is welcome and encourged to come celebrate the end to an amazing year in the department. 

WHERE: The food will be from the boat yard and ciao, but the event will take place at The Boat Yard Grill (outside in a tent)! "Beverages" will be available for purchace at the bar for those of age. Keep in mind that this event will be semi-formal and family friendly. If you have any questions feel free to ask chemclub.

WHAT: Besides eating and enjoying each others company, we will be doing some fun things to say good bye to our seniors as well. I'm trying to put together a slideshow with pictures from this past year (last year too) so if you have any please email them to me. We (the seniors) will be giving a faculty roast. As well as giving out special faculty awards. If anyone is willing to bring music or has anymore ideas please let us know! 

Tickets will be available for purchase from ChemClub (scary1@ithaca.edu) or in Maria's office (CNS 361). In order to attend this event you MUST purchase a ticket!!

T-Shirts: two different styles are available. The first style has the IC3 logo, in the choice or grey or blue. The second style is a "Caution: Chemists Hard at Work!" Viagra shirt in grey. -$15

Safety Glasses:Two styles available. The cheaper style fits over glasses and are clear. The second style are blue and very comfortable! $5 or $8
