Studying social studies at Ithaca is truly studying the world -- past, present, and future. Drawing on history as a foundation along with numerous disciplines, including anthropology, economics, geography, and politics, you'll be prepared to pursue a teaching degree at the graduate level or to choose nearly any professional career path, such as law, government service, or business.

Through our social studies program, you can pursue a further understanding of civic and global issues. Your education will be more than just textbook knowledge and lecture notes: you'll discover how to be a lifelong learner and how to apply your knowledge to the world around you. You might choose to study abroad and gain a firsthand understanding of the diverse topics discussed in your classes.

The interdisciplinary nature of the program makes double majoring an attractive option for many social studies majors. The social studies program is also excellent preparation for our new M.A.T. option or similar graduate programs at other schools.
