Student Awards and Funding
The History Department is pleased to be able to offer a number of scholarships and awards to our students, including
- the Elliot Mayrock History Scholarship (for an incoming first year or transfer student declaring a history or social studies major),
- the David W. Sass History Scholarship (for "outstanding achievement in the study of history" by a junior/senior history student -- click to see past awardees),
- multiple Robert Ryan History Scholarships (awarded to writing competition winners), and
- the Elliot Mayrock Writing Award (for the best seminar paper of the year).
If you have any questions about History Department Scholarships, please contact one of the members of the department’s Scholarships and Awards Committee (Jason Freitag, Vivian Conger, and Matthew Klemm).
Funding Opportunities Outside the Department
Funding for individual student projects -- internships, travel to archives or to conferences, and more -- may also be available through the H&S Dean's office or the IC Provost's office.
